Sorry about last night but tech problems prevented us from being on air

Last night into early morning was one of the worst nights to get a show up and on air. First it was a slower than molasses connection, but then that got to normal, then it was a tape deck that went sour so I had to go get an old dinosaur unit, that worked but made everything sound like it was slow motion, then the Windows Media Player started having fits. All together, at 04:00 the crew and I decided to bag it, get our tech in here Thursday and give it hell for Thursday into Friday.

Of course there were the environmental problems, first Jeff came home so couldn’t do much in the way of commentary, then there was the damn earwigs, that will be dead come Monday as Terminex is coming to spray, and give em hell Rydell, or at least reduce if not eliminate the bastards.

Saw though that about the time we were having problems on the online and all, so did Park City Television. They were off air for about an hour and a half, on Comcast Channel 102. A correlation? Don’t know but could be.

I’m not cussing out Comcast here since I do think they do the best with what they got. But its also of note here, as slow as it was, I got a bit better sound running the show over SpeedConnect, and I was only paying $50.00 a month. Granted not as big a pipe line, but we got it done. I’m paying twice as much and sound is not there and tech goofs are becoming a usual rather than exception.

Meaning, Comcast is getting a phone call and getting an earful in the afternoon.

I still say that if AllWest crept over the Mountain into Metro-Utah, Comcast and that Digis would be SOL, or having to catch up a lot.

I can remember when they hooked us up in CokeVille Wyoming in 2005. Albeit not yet fully optic fiber yet, but the dang thing worked. Oh there was some tech goof ups at first, but they brought over a booster that tied in with the cable line. After that in really sub zero at 50 below zero weather, although my teeth were chattering, at least we got on the air, TV and Internet worked flawlessly. When we moved things over to Evanston, a mere 60 miles away, over came AllWest some 75 miles away one way, spent a day running cable, and we were running at 50mps down, and 25 up. And that was before the days of digital internet, Want to know what I paid? $75.00 a month for the werx as they called it. TV and phone and yes one helluva horsepowered Internet. I have never got a straight answer from AllWest on why they don’t invade Metro-Utah, but they ought to.

Any mile so now you know it was tech crap that kept us off air coupled with my roomy, that I’m working to fix as well.

A civilization is built on what is required of men, not on that which is provided for them.
