Insurance and D-day , might be My D-Day

Today marks D day a last ditch effort of freedom. Or at least what may look to many as freedom. Bowe Burgdohl gets labeled as a traitor for desertion from combat and I got both my quotes for insuring the trucks.

Now $5k a year for a rig that see’s maybe 200 miles a month if that is a bit much, and added to that is 30 plus years old. Of course Progressive wasn’t much although slightly better at $1,000.00 a year.

Is it just Utah? Or what? The days of the one man and two truck independent toewer is becoming a scene of no longer .  Which is why I moved into Utah in early February, to get my flight rating to fly commercial helicopter, and slowly back out of toewing as a full on profession and just fly.

Oh don’t get me wrong , I’ll keep LexiBelle>Lexi in greenand WolfPup>lil lexi 1use em for the occasional car custom hot rod shows, parades etc, but I think the days of full on toewing at least at this stage of my life is done for.

I’m going to keep shopping for insurance, but it might be time for me to figure on just working for another company like say Bretts here in Ogden, and the rest of the time fly, and when I can do this radio thing.

It’s really too bad.

I hear all the time about the not insured independent tow companies that rip people off and that’s bad enough, but what about us who are honest, but are just too damn small in the number of trucks and volume to justify $5k a year for just two trucks? One that isn’t even a tow truck , but just a service vehicle? There are just some of us who can’t afford insurance. Oh and yes that 15 minutes can save you 15% on insurance from GEICO? Where is that? It takes 24 to 48 hours to insure a truck for basic liability just to be legal?

Today was my D, Day for sure.

Supposed to get a quote from GEICO here shortly again with an amended application, let you know, also contacted Barlow Insurance, to see if Progressive can be a bit lower, will report on Monday.
