Well, here it is Monday, and my my weekend sucked, okay really Tuesday, but for many its going to feel like Monday. It's go back to work for many, and its gloom and doom for others stuck at home with no job. Thing is friends there's work and income out there if your willing to stick your necks out, get off your ass, put away your reservations, and seek those jobs, and careers. Which brings me to several thoughts. First has the dynamics of our nation and workforce changed so much and the need of green, so important that we or many don't do a career or a job with pride of the task or project? More over has the safe work environment changed so much for women, that they wont even consider working for someone from within their homes or vice versa? Outside of medical home nurses and or nannies, clerical, or even theatrical tasks if engaged in a private home is just not done. I can remember during the Bill Clinton years, there was this big push for telecommuters and working at home. After all we have Internet, a Computer and all why have to trek through rush hour traffic? Just grab your coffee and work from your desk at home. So what was called Cottage business' started up. In some but not all, but some cases you needed an outsider or an employee. If there was a task that was usually a woman's task, one would come to the house, do her job, have lunch , do more of her job then split at 5:00 PM. Even I had periodic interns for radio and all that were not even phased about the duty being done at a house or apartment. Even Mark Zuckerburg who invented Facebook, and all had workers in his house. Try that today. You'll get the, oh it might be dangerous, I might get raped or something. To my way of thinking, and it just may be just me. But anything that could happen that might be kinky in a home office , can just as easily happen in a private office at some all glass office building. I have yet to figure out what the restraint and reluctance is. The thing I hear all the time is " Well they don't pay" answer, you work , be on time do the tasks you get paid and paid well. You don't work, you don't get here on time, when your show is to air and all, well, you don't get paid. That's why SouthernSteele Media as well as HazzardAyre and all, has a standing policy of a 90 day prospective no pay intern like period. Show up, do your task, for 3 months without much if any pay, then your on payroll, jerk us around, never show up. Then we part ways, and good luck to you. In all of my days doing LIVE over the air radio as well as online cyber radio, I have had 3 great working interns that one of which is a phone call away. The first is Cynthia Newell of Nampa Idaho, that we hired in 1987. She was fantastic, she even did on camera promotion as well as on air radio anchor duty. If we went to look at threads, she'd go to the bargain table. The second was a gal that answered a two sentence ad in the old Farm Times of Rupert Idaho. Robin Whittaker. She came in and we worked out of a very small and tight near broom closet at our shop there. She was one who I always have as the bench mark of all new hires. Not only did she do the work, she was always creating, and the telepathic messages at night were bewitching. I'd think of an idea for a show, she'd call me in minutes and describe the acctual thing. Then we'd rush to the shop studio and do it. Then of course, there is my dear friend and might say second wife, at least in business, and that is Erin. Aka Nurse Goodbody, when she called for that first interview, and I mentioned there might be a foot smooch in the works in hose her only question was, pantyhose or stockings. From that moment on and for two and a half months until Rick Strickland of Strickland Realty there in Gooding pulled his dirty deed, we churned out some damn good radio. So a question needs to be asked here, if women as they proclaim to, want equal authority, equal pay and stature in the workplace as a man, are they willing to take the same risks as a man?
In closing I say, I see many in media, that have hot looks, but are they only on a national screen or can one find em locally? Likewise take a look at this CNN Anchor
See you this afternoon on HazzardAyreRFD
